The Legend Of The Bleeding Pine Tree
Introduction
Thinking of a bleeding tree makes you think that this would be a very scary story…
But, how could there be such thing as a bleeding tree? Well, there is…

60 years ago, in an old village in Choa Chu Kang estate, there lived a beautiful, young girl who was 18 years old. Despite being bashful, she was beautiful, kind and filial to her parents. Her name was Felina.

There was an evil and lecherous bully in the village, Abul Salim; he was the most notorious person in the whole neighborhood. Abul Salim was mesmerized by Felina’s beauty and so he wanted to take Felina’s hand in marriage. Knowing that Abul Salim was notorious, Felina and her mother were taken aback and immediately refused Abul Salim’s proposal.

[Body]
Abul Salim was angry on the refusal and this made him thirst for revenge. One night, after Felina finished collecting the laundry, she went to the forest in search of her childhood pine tree; on the tree were carvings of pictures she and her brother carved when they were young. The siblings loved each other and once in a while when Felina missed her brother who was always away on business trips, she would come here, leaning against the pine tree and looked at the stars.

[Climax]
Just when Felina was getting ready to go back home to sleep, the bushes started to brush against each other. Felina thought it was just the wind, or was it? “Whoosh…!” A dark shadow rushed by Felina. She trembled in fear. Stood rooted to the ground, Felina shivered, “Is anybody there? Hello?”
Suddenly, someone from behind knocked her out!

[Ending]
When Felina woke up from the concussion, she realized that she was tied to the pine tree. She looked up and a glint of light flashed past her eyes. Then, she noticed that it was Abul Salim, holding a knife in his hand! Felina struggled to break free, but it didn’t even helped, as the rope sunk deeper into her skin, and it felt as a million tiny needles was pricking her skin. Abul Salim whispered in a dangerously, soft voice, “It’s of no use… the more you struggle, the more it will hurt.” With a grin on his face, Abul Salim started ripping off Felina’s blouse. Felina screamed for help, but to no avail. Felina knew that she could not break free just with her bare hands, so she frantically searched for the knife that Abul Salim threw on the ground. She tried to stretch and reach for the knife but as she struggled, her hand got hurt by the rope and started bleeding.

But, as far as she could, Felina reached for the knife and finally got it, and as fast as lightning, the rope got cut off! She kicked Abul Salim away and tried to escape, with her torn blouse and skirt. As she ran, she shouted, “Help! Help! Save me!! After Abul Salim stood up and regained his balance, he ran after Felina, with one hand holding the knife.

Just then, Sean returned to the village and went back to the hut in search of his beloved sister, but, all he could found were pieces of laundry lying around the table. Sean knew that his sister would go to the pine tree to look at the stars, so, as he approached the forest, he heard the screams of a girl. He then realized that it was Felina! Sean ran towards the voice of Felina and saw Felina running away from a man. As Felina saw her brother, she knew that there was hope as Sean practiced martial arts. Sean saw the knife on Abul Salim’s hand and he kicked it away. Sean snatched the knife from the ground and the two men fought their way back to the pine tree.

After fighting their way back to the tree, Sean had already found Abul Salim’s weak spot and decided to strike at his heart with the knife. Leaning against the tree, Abul Salim tried to dodge Sean’s attack but he was too late. The knife pierced through Abul Salim’s heart and right into the tree trunk. The blood of Abul Salim flowed down from the tree as if the tree was bleeding. Felina was scared, and so, Sean took away the knife and Felina back to the hut and took it as if nothing had happened.

A few days later, Abul Salim’s corpse was nowhere to be seen, as Abul Salim was an evil guy, no one bothered to investigate the matter further. He died in vengeance… A few years later, when people walked past the pine tree, a puddle of blood would appear beside the tree and a man would be seen leaning against the tree with a knife in his heart.

Now, the tree had been chopped down to build the railway tracks, but, when the passengers in the train went pass that area where the pine tree stood, they could see an illusion of the tree still being there. And this concludes the legend of the bleeding pine tree.

The moral of the story is: It is of no use to force others into doing things that they are not willing to do.
